About Us

We welcome you to Organisation for Good Life of the Marginalized (OGLM) OGLM is a Civil Organization Registered as a Non Governmental Organization by the National NGO Board under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uganda. OGLM implements community based Projects at the Grassroots.

OGLM was birthed out of commitment, love, hope and prayers by Ms. Grace Lwana, Ms. Barbara Munyaruguru, Waiswa Lillian and Christopher Kalema way back in time but started implementing projects in May/2003.

Currently OGLM is also being registered as a Charity in Canada. OGLM - Canada will be legally registered and recognized by July/2007.

The Organization was started with the overall objective of Mitigation & Prevention of HIV/AIDS among the marginalized (Sex Workers, Orphan & Vulnerable Children, Grandmothers - Women and Youths) in Eastern Uganda.

OGLM was founded with a vision of "A society that is free from HIV/AIDS, Poverty and recognizes the needs of the marginalized" and a mission of "To reduce Poverty and HIV/AIDS among the marginalized especially women, children and youth in Uganda through socio-economic empowerment, advocacy and information sharing".

In execution of its work, OGLM respects the following core values:

  • Equality: We believe that all human beings should have equal access to opportunities and participation. We believe that women living with HIV/AIDS and children orphaned by HIV/AIDS have been marginalized and therefore, we deliberately work for benefit of these categories of people in our society.
  • Integrity: We believe in transparency and have zero-tolerance for corruption in our organization and in the process of doing our work
  • Participation: We believe in participation of our stakeholders in decisions that shape their lives. In this way we manage to harness the potential that the marginalized groups have for their own development.
  • Self Determination: We believe that we are a local NGO, with a local but global development agenda. We believe in protecting our autonomy and setting and driving our own agenda.
  • Learning: We believe that development is a social experiment, with no blue prints but an exploratory process. We therefore seek to learn from what, why, and how we do it in our organizations and communities. We believe that learning should be the agenda of networking and partnership among development actors in the world.
