Stand up and SAY NO
to Starvation in Kamuli Uganda
Greetings from Buwaiswa Orphanage Children's Home in Kamuli Eastern Uganda Africa.
Am sending out this appeal for help which requires immediate attention. Currently our Orphanage just like the entire Buwaiswa Village is facing a serious food shortage and crisis. This crisis was caused by the floods/Elinino rains which flooded the gardens and destroyed everything in its path. The food crops and plants were all destroyed. In Uganda almost all our food supplies comes directly from the gardens to the Kitchen, we hardly buy any from the stores. Now the trend has changed, we have to depend totally on buying from the stores to feed the Children. This is a challenge as we don't have the financial ability to purchase from the stores. The Children's Home desperately needs your help and every little bit will help to keep the children going; they need to eat and they need to continue to go to school so that they have a future.
I know times are tough (relatively) but I urge you to do as much as you can.

Be the Change
Emergency & Relief Appeal for
Food & Medical Supplies
Since 2007, Eastern Uganda has suffered several storms, strong winds and flooding in the some parts of the districts of Soroti, Kamuli, Kumi, Karamajongo areas, part of north eat Uganda and of course the usual areas in the central. This has destroyed houses, caused cholera, blocked the roads making it harder even to deliver supplies, destroying farm fields/gardens of food, killing people and above all affecting the social and economic life style of the area.
Eastern Uganda is 83.9% rural, without access to power/electricity, no access to safe clean water, no access to health care services, not even proper schools, housing is very poor and almost 91.4% of the total population is food insecure. Eastern Uganda has a population of over 14.8million people as on Feb/2006. Because of the on and off flood-likes and its effects, now the entire Eastern Uganda has been badly hit by feminine which is likely to last up to the end of March/2011 when they get a new season and a new harvest from Uganda. The prices of food have skyrocketed and it also has to come from neighboring areas or even imported into the Countries. Buwaiswa Orphanage Children's Home and the entire village of Buwaiswa has been equally hit even harder following the March – May heavy, strong windy rains which posed the biggest cholera risk ever in the area. And these dangerous rains are still on and off which keeps on bringing a lot of health problems and killing people.
Now OGLM has created a 5 people committee to handle the crisis in the Buwaiswa community, this committed is headed by Barbara Munyaruguru – contact her on Barbara.Munya@oglm.org assisted by nutritionist Alice Mulondo, Agriculturist – Musa Kazimba, Nurse - Rosemary Nabirye and Advisor Dr. Fred Wakabi. This team is offering food supplies, medical and seeds for planting for next season. This team is focusing on the entire Buwaiswa Village which has a population of over 13,000 people. We are now appealing to you for your generous and kind support to make the work of the team even easier. To give you an idea, this is how your donations will be used and also sees its impact
